I booked for Smedium knotless braids and they look great! I love that as soon as she started she asked me did I like them so far. I was looking for a place to braid my hair in Chicago, and I was honestly a little nervous because I’m new to braiding my hair. After doing some research, I found Empress Braiding Salon, and I’m so glad I did.
From the very first contact, everyone was professional, warm, and accommodating. Throughout the entire appointment, I felt comfortable, welcomed, and happy. The owner is VERY sweet.

The reason why I doxed a star is because the first time I want to this salon was December 12th, 2025. Ester did a fabulous job on my Medium Boho Knotless Braids, I kept them almost a month and a half. They were flawless. However, the second time I visited them (May 27, 2026) Rose did my hair and I must say it leaves some to be desired. My smedium knotless French curl braids are okay but Rose should have put the braid hair closer to my scalp when braiding. For instance, on a lot of the braids the hair wasn't added until she braided my own hair out an inch. Now after only a week and a half it looks tacky and my roots are looking worn much sooner than anticipated. In my opinion she also didn't use enough gel on my hair to keep it in check. I may go back to this salon in the future but I will not be using Rose's services again. That is all. Thank you for reading my review....more

Let me tell yall somthing! This place is EVERYTHING I’ve been searching for as far as fining a reliable shop in Chicago! I’m incredibly happy with my experience. The women here are so sweet, attentive and they don’t play! These women get your hair done within the 5 hour mark. The inside is a beautiful clean and spaced out. Everyone has their own space and nothing feels crowded or uncomfortable. I am extremely pleased with my experience! I’m happy with what I paid, wasn’t expensive at all.

Now let’s talk about my hair… My hair IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Perfect perfect! I got shmedium knotless boho braids . My parts are seriously some of the best parts !! Thank you Adela , she was my braider and she did her thanggggg! She’s really nice and asks you exactly how you want it before she moves on to any new steps . She’s very attentive and professional!

I’m incredibly impressed by these women! I can tell everyone here works hard and care about their work!!

I had a really good experience overall and I love how my hair came out. The salon was clean, the staff was welcoming, and everything moved pretty quickly, which I appreciated. I did end up adding more boho style, which I’m glad I did because it brought life to it.

If I could change one thing, I would’ve asked for thicker braids since I have a smaller head and was going for a fuller look—but that was on me for not being more specific during my appointment. Even so, the braids are super neat. I’d definitely come back and try a different style next time....more

literally had an emergency where I needed to get my hair done within like the same day bracket they were able to get me in their chair in less than an hour. All of them are super kind and super sweet as well as I had multiple people working on my hair so I was able to get out early as as well as since I started my appointment very very late. I still was able to leave out at a decent time. I do have shortage in my hair as far as the front part, and they were able to still take care of it as well. I still make me feel comfortable, which I really really respect them so if anyone is looking for a really good braider as well as a braid that will listen to your request...more

I have a mixed daughter and finding a good hair provider has always been hard. I was skeptical to give them a try because of the bad review they have here on Google but honestly these women are wonderful. They took 5 hours to do my daughters Shmedium knotless braids, which I thought was fast. My daughter loved her hair and I loved the ambiance. So this is my first time coming here. I came all the way from Wisconsin, and I was kind of nervous just because I’ve always gotten braids and never really was satisfied with them especially because I was getting bora bora braids. I was really nervous, some people say they do them and just don’t know how to actually do them the right way. Blessing, the owner of the shop truly did every single thing the right way. From parting to the braid pattern all the way down to adding the hair in my head she did everything perfect!! I don’t think I’ve ever loved any hairstyle so much as much as I do with this one. Also, This hairstyle was very affordable. There is a lot more places that charge much more. She truly put time and effort into my hair!!! She went above and beyond on my hair and she was so kind and her shop was just so welcoming. Her mom also helped and did an amazing job as well! If anyone Ever wants to get some Bora Bora braids, Boho braids or any type of braids I’m telling you this is your shop to go to she did such an amazing job and made me feel so much confident with my hair again. I absolutely love my Smedium boho braids from Empress Beauty! I got waist length and they're perfect for vacation and I'm super happy with how they turned out. Everyone was really kind and professional. I was impressed with how efficient they were (two people braiding my hair at times) and how well my braids have been keeping up with swimming. Omg, I just love Benise. This woman has grown my hair so much! I still have all my edges plus even more thicker edges after I take my braids down. I was so nervous to get braids because of a previous bad experience years ago. But Benise has reignited my love for braids after so many years of not getting braids.
